Is Social media/internet really secure? Internet and Social Media Security discussions.

We love internet and the its amazing capabilities and why not it makes us stay connected. But is it secure??? Well yes and no.

The internet is secure and private but it is also an insecure channel for exchanging information.

Well we all use social media apps like facebook, youtube and whatever. But the thing is that they are not completely secure. All these apps use your personal info to earn money. Take YouTube for example have you ever wondered that why you see smartphone ads in an tech video? or anything else which is indirectly or sometimes directly connected to what you're watching. This all happens because they use information you have provided them. You can find out more about it in the internet itself. There are better explanations there.

So the thing is that Internet is mostly private and secure but it also have a high risk of intrusion by hackers and cybercriminals which makes it unsecure sometimes.

But how do you know that your internet is secure?

Well you might or surely have seen the word HTTPS. HTTPS is used when you log into a website and when it's there that means your information is hidden. You can easily tell if a website uses HTTP by looking at the URL, it should start with HTTPS.

Most Secure Internet Connection:

A Virtual Private Network(VPN uses encryption to effectively mask your online activity and your IP address making your location and activities virtually untraceable.

So the bottom line is that Internet is secure in most cases and talking about social media, well they use your information but to only for good reason and they don't share it at all. Companies like Facebook are often seen as companies who sell your information and then earn money but I don't think they do that they've not become a centi-billion dollar company by doing that.
